Tresillian Gym and Spa

The project involved refurbishment and conversion of an existing grain store into a fitness suite/spa in the grounds of a Grade II Listed Building.

The work needed to meet the strict requirements of the local Planning and Conservation Officers and all the work is being carried out by local craftsmen specialising in this type of work.

Existing features would need to be retained in the design for conservation purposes, whilst the existing open frontage needed to be enclosed. Specialist timber windows/doors are hand built to suit this need and will enable natural light levels to the ground floor area to be maintained.

Specialist spa, sauna and steam rooms are installed on the ground floor while the upper floor will remain open plan as a gym/aerobic workout area.

Another requirement of the Local Planning Department was to ensure the conversion was sympathetically built with existing wildlife in mind, i.e. bats and owls. Therefore, feature bat roosts, constructed in small compartment openings under the slates will be included.

A barn conversion and extension with a difference. The barn is sandwiched between a road and the edge of the council's development boundary, meaning a traditional extension would be unacceptable.
