Roselath

The conversion of two barns to a holiday cottage. One of the barns was a Listed Building, featuring an unusual stone fireplace and chimney stack, and this meant the other barn was also treated as listed because of its proximity. The designs are intended to preserve as much of the original fabric of the buildings and their historical features as possible. The layouts were of an open plan, modern design and new external features were given a contemporary edge to provide a contrast between new and original parts of the structures.

The listed building has an open, two-storey gallery space separating its two bedrooms, whilst the second barn has a timber boarded and glazed link structure to connect the original barn with an adjacent dilapidated stone structure.

A barn conversion and extension with a difference. The barn is sandwiched between a road and the edge of the council's development boundary, meaning a traditional extension would be unacceptable.
